This page explains how Gold Coins Today is made, in plain terms, so you can decide how much weight to give what you read here. Last updated October 6, 2026.
Who runs this site
Gold Coins Today is an independently operated website. It is not affiliated with the United States Mint, the Royal Canadian Mint, the Royal Mint, any grading service, coin dealer, refiner or precious-metals IRA company. Questions and corrections go through the contact page.
How articles are made
- Articles are drafted with AI. Each article is drafted by an AI language model (Anthropic’s Claude) from a topic list we maintain and published through an automated process. We are not certified numismatists, graders, appraisers, dealers or financial advisors, and no article is reviewed by one. The “Editorial Team” byline refers to that process, not to a named human expert.
- Automated checks run before publishing. They look for invented prices and statistics, made-up quotes, guaranteed-return language, claims of endorsement and repetitive prose. Passing a check is not the same as being verified: an automated check cannot confirm that a historical detail is true.
- Illustrations are AI-generated. Photos on articles are illustrative images made with an image model. They are not photographs of the specific coins discussed, and they are not evidence of a coin’s condition or authenticity.
- We are refreshing older articles. In October 2026 we began re-checking articles against primary sources (statutes, mint publications) and adding source links. Articles that have been re-checked say so at the bottom, with the date.
How the tools and data tables are made
The melt value calculator, the karat and weight calculator and the coin content chart are built from statutes (the U.S. Code and the Coinage Acts of 1837, 1873 and 1965) and from the issuing mints’ own published pages. Every figure is linked to its source and the page shows a “last checked” date. Where an issuer does not print a figure, we show a dash instead of guessing. The calculators do not store or display market prices: you enter a price from a live quote.
What this site is not
Nothing here is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing here is an appraisal or authentication of any coin. We do not publish price predictions, guaranteed-return claims or recommendations of particular dealers, grading services or IRA providers. This market attracts high-pressure sales tactics; if someone urges you to buy or sell quickly, slow down and get a second opinion.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, tell us through the contact page. We check the claim against a primary source, fix the page, and note the change at the bottom of the page when it affects a figure or a historical claim.
Advertising and money
The site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads do not influence what we write, and we do not accept payment for favorable coverage of any dealer, mint or service. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.
